RE: Labor Day Weekend

Heading to Lakewood PA for our 11th annual Goldstock weekend. About 1000 miles round trip. No big deal camping though. We've been full timing it since before Memorial Day while we work on our house.

RE: Can I send my laptop screen to my new LCD tv?

So, it looks like if I want to do this, I will have to run a RGB cable from my dinette table to the front TV...or mount my old Sony laptop in the cabinet and transmit to it from my new laptop. I guess I have my answer. Some day, when technology allows, I'm sure I'll be able to do it easily but not now... Thanks for all the replies!

Can I send my laptop screen to my new LCD tv?

Because of a very close lightning strike, I found myself in the market for a new TV. I actually found this a good thing (Becasuse there was no damage to the RV except for the TV) as it forced me to upgrade to a new flatscreen. I found a good deal on a 26 inch Vizio. It has all sorts of inputs on the back including a RGB PC input. This got me to thinking. Is there any way to wirelessly send my laptops screen to the TV? I know I can do it with a cable but with todays wireless technology, someone must have invented a way to do this? Btw, We have a surge protector but the strike came up the cable and into the TV. Had I thought it would happen, I would have disconnected the cable...but who knew? Chandler

RE: Love it or Hate it?

Love it. Perfect floor plan for us, not one issue in five years and 25,000 miles. We're now full timing in it while we rebuild our house...I could do this for a while!

RE: what would you do?

I'm so sorry to hear about Tootsie. We just lost our handicapped golden, Lucy a year ago. She was born paralyzed so the decision was much different. I know that a two legged dog can lead a happy life in some cases. It sounds like Tootsie has other issues so you will have to look at the whole picture. Do what's best for her, not you. Look at my website to see how we handled Lucy's disability.. Good luck with whatever decision you make...

RE: dog droppings

... She refused to pick it up, saying she just couldn't so I picked it up and put it on her picnic table and walked away... Geeze, bagged or not, couldn't you have found a better place other than the picnic table? It was either that or her step… She’s the only one who uses her step but others use the picnic table. Who finally picked the poop off the picnic table? I didn’t mean to imply that dog poop was tantamount to anthrax – it just makes me wonder if the woman understood what you did and why. We walked by later that day and it was gone. Her husband was there and he even said hi to us so I'm assuming he chucked it.

RE: dog droppings

I think this is a touchy subject because dog owners know (Conscientious owners) that they are allowed to bring their pets with them because the owners of the campgrounds allow them to. It is not a right to bring your pet, it's a privilege. In NH, the state parks used to allow dogs, now a very few of them do. Why? Liability, dealing with aggression, waste problems, barking..all leading to too many complaints. They have enough to do without having to deal with these issues. We know that it would only take one bad stretch of dog related complaints to make any campground owner start to wonder why they allow dogs. We get upset at people not properly supervising their dog because it may result in our favorite campground banning dogs next year. We don't want that. I'm friends with the park manager at Salisbury Beach State Reservation and he has had times where he wonders why he has to deal with dog problems at all. He has the power to ban dogs but he hasn't...yet. That's why I'm so fanatical...

Geeze, bagged or not, couldn't you have found a better place other than the picnic table? It was either that or her step. They had no furniture, tables or anything. Besides, she was with me and standing right there. I was going to hand the bag to her but she had such a grossed out face, she probably wouldn't take it. You know, picking up poop isn't a big deal, especially if you've had children. I had three and dog poop is nothing compared to what they produced for me!

RE: dog droppings

I always carry poop bags with me and if I see someone doing that, I'll walk over and hand them a bag saying something like "Out of bags? Here. use one of mine." I'm nice about it but once, in Salisbury Mass, I had someone say that they couldn't pick up the poop because it made them sick. I told them that people like them will eventually make dogs unwelcome and I didn't want that to happen. She refused to pick it up, saying she just couldn't so I picked it up and put it on her picnic table and walked away. I met a park ranger I knew a little later, told him about my encounter, and he went and told her that if she couldn't pick up after her dog, the dog would have to leave the park. They left the next morning.

RE: Anyone know nice overnight campground off I84--CT..?

Bullydogs..check out Strawberry Park's pet rules first. We were told that our dogs had to stay on site. No walking through the park with them. We ended up staying at Foxwoods resort for the overnight. They may have changed the rules so you should check.

RE: Can your dogs walk up and down the steps to your RV?

We have a 13 year old and he needs a helping hand getting up. We have a ramp and it scares him. It would have to be 20 feet long to get an angle he would be comfortable with. Getting out is another problem. I put my hand against his chest and let him go down. He's comforted by my hand there, just in case he stumbles. We also have a 15 month old. He acts like his brother and pretends he needs help going up the stairs but I think he just wants the attention :-) Some times he will forget and he'll bound up the steps in one hop.

RE: Any Boaters/Cruisers in the Forum?

We've been boaters and campers for almost 20 years. Moved up the boating ladder until we bought our 36 foot Carver Mariner. We lived on it from May to October for 7 years. Camped during the off season. We sold the boat just before the gas price explosion and now do the same thing, just with a motorhome. I will never forget the memories of those trips Down East Maine, those solitary islands, the smells, the sounds...they can never be duplicated in the RV. I still miss it but I don't regret moving on.
